Welcome to the Indigenous Cultural Competency guide.

Curtin University would like to acknowledge the Wadjuck Nyungar owners, the land where the main campus is situated.  We also acknowledge the First Peoples of the lands wherever Curtin is located.

In this guide you will find resources to help you understand the concept of Indigenous Cultural Competency as presented by the National Best Practice Framework for Indigenous Cultural Competency in Australian Universities.

This guide explores the principles and practices of cultural competency which are being adopted at Curtin University and at other leading Australian tertiary institutions.

Use the tabs above to find information across all core activity areas relating to Indigenous cultural competency.

More on this guide...

This guide aims to highlight Curtin's activities in this area as it relates to:

  • Teaching and learning
  • University governance
  • Indigenous research
  • Staff training
  • Recruitment and selection

The guide will act as a repository for the most current activities in this area and be used as a centralised base for Curtin's ongoing response to Indigenous Cultural Competency. We will endeavour to add more information to the guide as we strive to effectively engage in Indigenous Cultural Competency.
