EndNote Online

What is EndNote Online?

EndNote Online is the online component of the EndNote reference management and bibliography-creation software. It allows you to collect, organise and store references online, sync with your EndNote Desktop library, share references with other users, and create citations and bibliographies in Microsoft Word.

 

 

 

There are two versions of EndNote: EndNote Desktop and EndNote Online. The EndNote Desktop software stores the program and your library on your local computer, whereras EndNote Online accounts store your citation collection on web based servers so you can log onto the web and access your account from anywhere. EndNote Online doesn't replace EndNote Desktop. It is a tool for those who wish to collaborate, or those who don't have access to an EndNote Desktop account. 

Referencing & EndNote

Before you begin using the EndNote program you need to know which referencing style your school uses and become familiar with that style. While EndNote will display references in your selected referencing style (e.g. APA, Chicago, Vancouver etc.) you need to be able to recognise any mistakes or inconsistencies in your references. Types of EndNote Online accounts

There are 3 options for access to EndNote Online:

EndNote Online with EndNote Desktop  EndNote Online with Web of Science EndNote Basic

*A limited number of styles will be displayed in EndNote Online. Please contact the Library if you would like us to add an additional style.

Setting up an EndNote Online account

To access EndNote Online you first need to register for an account:

EndNote login box to create an EndNote account

 

EndNote Desktop users

  1. Open your EndNote desktop Library
  2. Click the Sync Library button in the top toolbar EndNote sync button or select Sync under the Tools menu
  3. In the EndNote Login box select Sign Up and follow the prompts to register for an account

Please note:

  • Use your Curtin email address
  • Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and include at least one number, one symbol, and a change of capitalisation
  • If you have an existing Web of Science login you should use this to sign in (see below)

Web of Science users

  1. Login to Web of Science via the Library website
  2. Click on Sign In in the top toolbar and select Register from the drop down menu
  3. Follow the prompts to create a Web of Science account
  4. Once registered, click on the EndNote link in the top toolbar to access your EndNote Online library

If you have an existing Web of Science account:

  1. Sign In using your Web of Science account details
  2. Select My Tools and EndNote to access 

EndNote basic users

  1. Go to: https://access.clarivate.com/#/login?app=endnote 
  2. Select Sign Up and follow the prompts to register for an account
