Copyright and your thesis

In writing your thesis, you may have incorporated material for which you do not own the copyright, and this could include your own published work if you have transferred your copyright to the publisher.

Before depositing your thesis to espace you must obtain permission from the copyright owner to re-use such material.  For guidance on copyright requirements, refer to Copyright for HDR students.

If you have not been able to gain permission, redact the third party copyright material from the public version of your thesis prior to depositing to espace.  Refer to Guidelines for Deposit of Final Thesis for more information.

For instructions on redacting copyright content from the public version of your thesis refer to:

It is the HDR student's responsibility to ensure that content in their thesis does not breach copyright legislation if made public.
