Working with Groups

EndNote Online allows you to organise your references into groups. This makes it easy to share them with colleagues.

By default EndNote Online places references into the Unfiled group.

To create a new group: New group option in Organize tab in EndNote Online

  1. Click the Organize tab, which will display the Manage My Groups page
  2. Click the New group button in the My groups table
  3. Enter a name in the text box provided
  4. Click the OK button.

To add a reference to a group:Add to group option in My references tab in EndNote Online

  1. Click the My References tab
  2. Tick the boxes next to the references you want to add to a group
  3. Choose the group name from the Add to group... menu 
  4. For a new group choose New group, enter the name then OK.

Note: You can place a reference in multiple groups. To see which group(s) a given reference is currently in, click on the folder icon below the reference.

Finding duplicates

To find duplicate references:

  1. Click on the Find Duplicates link under the Organize tab
  2. References are compared by the Author, Year, Title and Reference Field types
  3. References identified as duplicates will be ticked
  4. Click on Delete to remove duplicates.
