Using the Library Catalogue: Advanced search and Browse search

Advanced search

Advanced search allows you to create a more targeted search.

In the Advanced Search there are three query options:

  • contains for a keyword search
  • is (exact) when you are searching for an exact phrase
  • starts with/Title when you know the exact title

You can also limit your search by Publication Date and Material Type

Boolean Searching

You can combine search terms in the catalogue by entering Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) in capital letters between the terms

You can use Boolean operators in an advanced search using the dropdown options

Browse search

Browse search allows you to browse for items by title, author or subject.

Select Browse from the further search options from the menu at the top of the page. Choose your browse option from the drop down menu and enter your search term.
