Communications, Culture and Indigenous Perspectives in Business 2021: Assessment three: Written report

Communications, Culture and Indigenous Perspectives in Business

Assignment 3: Written report

You are required to read and reflect on the United Nations DEpartment of Economic and Social Affairs report titled "The Impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous Peoples".

You are then required to write a 1800 – 2000 word report on the impact and implications of COVID-19 on Indigenous peoples. We've provided some guidance below on searching for information to support your report.

Indigenous and intercultural perspectives in the global business environment

You are required to identify specific examples of the ways COVID-19 has impacted Aboriginal communities - including Aboriginal community health services. You are also required to demonstrate an understanding of the value Aboriginal business has to the community and the economy, and an understanding of responsible business practices focused on Indigenous people – both in Australia and globally.

Aboriginal community health services

The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation is the leadership body that represents Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. The NACCHO website is a good starting point to gain an understanding of the work of Aboriginal community health services.

Value of Aboriginal business to the community and economy

Australian Government websites provide useful information on Aboriginal businesses that can be used as a starting point for your research.

Information specific to COVID-19

You might like to think about how issues specific to the COVID-19 pandemic outlined in the UN report may have impacted existing inequality, for example border closures and travel restrictions to remote communities. While there have been some journal articles published on this topic, you won't find many as the issue is still ongoing and there's been limited time for research and the publication process. You may find more information from newspaper articles and media reports.
