A number of Australian Universities were involved in pilot activities in 2010 as part of the Indigenous Cultural Competency in Australian Universities Project (2011). The following document outlines each university's contribution as part of the pilot activity:
Government organisations, including Universities, are the primary service providers and employers of Indigenous Australians. Consequently, they have the greatest potential to 'close the gap'.
In the last few years, academic institutions have heeded the call for integration of cultural competency by offering programs/courses that promote Indigenous knowledge and skills, and the enhancement of positive attitudes towards Indigenous culture.
