Curtin has a tradition of recognising its excellent teachers and programs that support student learning and this is reflected in our success at national level in the Awards for Australian University Teaching (AAUT) coordinated by the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT). In the past four years, Curtin has won nine Awards for Teaching Excellence; three awards for Programs that Enhance Learning; and twenty-five Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.
There are a number of opportunities for staff to apply or be nominated for internal teaching excellence awards. These include the Curtin Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching (EIT) and Faculty Awards for Teaching Excellence. The Curtin Student Guild also provide awards annually for recognition and reward for outstanding performances in teaching and in enhancing student learning. For details on each see below
Grants programs aim to provide funding to support staff to reflect, explore, experiment, and implement innovations in teaching and learning. The predominant program is that provided by the Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) – the Learning and Teaching Grants Program. Curtin also provides funding support and in 2015 this includes TEDF grants and Teaching focused scholarship seed grants.
